Corrclough National School – St Patricks Day Parade 2011
The theme for the Corrclough National Schools parade was water conservation and was to involve all classes from junior infant through to 6th class, with a total of 64 children. We visited the school in mid January initially and from there made weekly trips working directly with the students. With 3 rooms of students in total we collaborated to develop outfits and designs related to water conservation appropriate to the age group involved. With group 1 the age group was aprox 4 – 7, the students came up with the idea of raindrops and clouds. Group 2, aged aprox 7 – 10 discussed the importance of turning off taps and other ways of water conservation in the home. Group 3 aged aprox 10 – 12 devoloped the idea of a Water Conservationist. This group designed a general costume incoporating recyled water bottles and back-pack carriers with water piping connecting to papier mache hats
Many thanks to all at Mayo Artsquad who worked on the costume structures.
